Već dugo sam želela da uslikam neku od svojih odevnih kombinacija u ambijentu staklenika botaničke bašte "Jevremovac", i ranije ovog meseca smo Nataša i ja odlučile da je posetimo baš iz tog razloga, mada ni osećaj spokoja u raskošnom zelenilu i fascinacija brojnim vrstama biljaka koje su uzgajane u njemu s ljubavlju nisu izostali. Do poslednjeg trenutka nisam imala ideju kako će tačno izgledati odevna kombinacija koju ću tamo slikati, a onda mi je sinulo da je odabrani ambijent savršen za predivan trenč mantil koji je prvi komad iz studio kolekcije jednog od mojih omiljenih domaćih brendova. COZY je brend koji posluje s ljubavlju prema našoj planeti tako što u izradi svojih komada koristi isključivo materijale koji su udobni, prirodni i biorazgradivi, a komadi su pogodni za kombinovanje na bezbroj načina i njihov kvalitet garantuje da će vam trajati godinama. Pored toga što se staraju o tome da svakim aspektom svog poslovanja (materijalima, procesom i obimom proizvodnje, pakovanjem i transportom) svedu štetnost po životnu sredinu na minimum, oni omogućavaju svima koji učestvuju u proizvodnji njihovih komada da budu pošteno plaćeni za svoj rad i imaju dostojanstvene i bezbedne uslove rada.

Sigurna sam da vam je poznato to koliko je ozbiljan globalno rasprostranjen problem zagađenja životne sredine, a jedna od činjenica koja me posebno poražava jeste ta da je moj rodni grad Beograd među najzagađenijim gradovima na svetu, a neretko i na prvom mestu te opasne statistike. Jedan od najvećih zagađivača jesu upravo megalomanske kompanije koje dominiraju industrijom brze mode - hiperprodukcijom eksploatišu prirodne resurse do iznemoglosti, koriste materijale poput poliestera koji sadrže tragove mikroplastike i ne ulažu toliko u kvalitet proizvoda, što nas vodi u začaran krug kupovine novih stvari jer nemaju naročito dug vek trajanja. Iako mi sami kao pojedinci ne možemo i ne treba da snosimo odgovornost za štetu koju velike i moćne kompanije nanose životnoj sredini (i da je krajnje vreme da oni sami promene politiku svog poslovanja), mi možemo, radi nas samih, malim koracima doprineti nadi za zdraviju budućnost - racionalizacijom kupovine, informisanjem o materijalima koji se koriste, doniranjem ili poklanjanjem odeće koju više ne nosimo, okretanjem ekološki osvešćenim brendovima kad god smo u mogućnosti ili čak posećivanjem second hand prodavnica i butika. Ova planeta je naš dom, a ujedno i dom mnogih drugih prelepih stvorenja - ni oni ni mi nemamo drugi. Koliko god je u našoj moći, potrudimo se da je sačuvamo.

I've been wanting to shoot one of my outfits in the ambience of the greenhouse which is a part of the botanical garden "Jevremovac", and earlier this month Nataša and I decided to pay it a visit for that very reason, although the sense of tranquility in the lush greenery and fascination by plants grown inside of it with love didn't pass us by. I had no idea what the outfit I was going to shoot would look like until the very last minute, and then I thought that the ambience we chose was perfect for a wonderful trench coat made by one of my favourite local brands as the first garment of their studio collection. COZY is a brand that is based on treating our planet with love by using exclusively comfy, natural and biodegradable fabrics, their garments are so easy to combine in many ways, and their quality guarantees that they will last for years to come. Apart from making sure that every aspect of their work (the fabrics, process and frequency of production, packaging and transport of their products) reduces the environmental damage to the bare minimum, they're also making sure that every person that took part in the production of their garments is fairly paid for their work and that they have safe and humane work conditions.

I'm sure you're all familiar with the seriousness of the global issue of environmental pollution, and one of the facts that really saddens me is that my hometown Belgrade is among the most polluted cities in the world, and more often than not it's even on top of the hazardous statistics. One of the greatest contributors to pollution is the fashion industry, or to be more precise, the huge companies that dominate it with their fast fashion approach - their hyperproduction exploits natural resources to their limits, they use fabrics like polyester that contain traces of microplastic and they don't invest much into the quality of their products, which pushes us into the vicious cycle of buying new clothes because they don't really last long. Although we as individuals cannot and should not bear the responsibility for the damage that big and powerful companies inflict to the environment (and it's about time for them to change the policy of their business), we can, for our own sake, take baby steps to contribute to the hope for a healthier future - by rationalizing how we shop, informing ourselves about the fabrics used, donating or gifting clothes that we no longer wear, turning to eco friendly brands whenever we are able to, or even visiting second hand stores and boutiques. This planet is our home, and also the home to so many wonderful creatures - we don't have another one, and neither do they. Let's do our best to preserve it as much as it's in our power.
