Iako nisam u potpunosti prestala da kupujem od brendova brze mode, primećujem da me njihove ponude sve manje oduševljavaju i da se sve više okrećem malim biznisima i brendovima koji stavljaju u prvi plan održivost, etičku proizvodnju i daleko više ulažu u kvalitet naspram kvantiteta. Naravno, u ovom trenutku mi budžet ne dozvoljava da to radim prečesto, ali nalazim veliku satisfakciju u tome da priuštim sebi jedan takav komad nakon perioda disciplinovane štednje jer znam da će mi trajati godinama. Jedan od njih je ova prelepa haljina brenda Audrey Leighton Vintage koji pratim od osnivanja, i čije se kolekcije sastoje od limitiranih kontigenata prepoznatljivih komada i vintidž dragulja renomiranih brendova. Ovaj brend je osnovala poezija od žene Audrey Leighton Rogers, žena čiji su kreativnost, radna etika, smisao za estetiku i čitav imidž nešto najautentičnije što možete otkriti. Ona je već godinama moje nadahnuće i ono što bih najviše volela jeste da budem jednako moćna, elegantna i bezvremenska poput nje.

Pauza između poslednje i ove objave je verovatno najduža od svih koje sam pravila u skorije vreme, ali mi je bila preko potrebna jer me je poslednjih mesec dana razorilo na najsitnije delove. Dvadeset i petog septembra sam izgubila tatu zbog koronavirusa i još uvek učim da prihvatam činjenicu da ga nikad više neću videti, pričati s njim i zagrliti ga. U mesec dana nakon njegove smrti naišli su i njegov 56. rođendan i punoletstvo moje mlađe sestre, i to što njega nema je bilo jako teško pregutati. Moj tata je bio dobra i nežna duša, i voleo je život i ljude, i znam da bi voleo da se oporavim i vratim svom normalnom životu. Ovaj blog je nešto što me inače usrećuje i u čemu me je tata uvek podržavao, oko čega mi je neretko pomagao i zbog čega je, između ostalog, bio bezrezervno ponosan na mene. I nikad neću odustati od sebe, svog života i svega što volim - i znam da je on uvek tu negde uz mene.

U jednom od naših razgovora nakon što mi je ova prelepa haljina stigla, Audrey mi je rekla: "Nema bolje žene da nosi neku od mojih haljina." Mnogo je neverovatnih žena koje nose njene haljine, a ja ću dati sve od sebe da opravdam njene reči i budem jedna od tih žena - i ne postoji bolja haljina u kojoj ću vratiti svoj život, svoju sreću, svoju slobodu i u kojoj ću se ponovo osećati dobro.

U ovoj haljini se osećam hrabro - hrabro da budem ono što jesam.

Although I haven't entirely stopped shopping from fast fashion brands, I notice that their collections don't impress me as much anymore and that I keep turning to small businesses and brands that base their work on sustainability, ethical production and prioritize quality over quantity. My budget doesn't allow me to do it too often, of course, but I get a grand satisfaction in treating myself to one of such pieces after a period of disciplined saving because I know it's going to last for ages. One of such garments is this gorgeous Audrey Leighton Vintage classic wrap dress, a brand that I've been keeping up with since it was founded that creates monthly collections of limited edition signature pieces and carefully curated vintage treasures made by renowned brands. This brand was founded by a poetry of a woman named Audrey Leighton Rogers, a woman whose creativity, work ethic, sense of aesthetic and entire image are the most authentic thing you could possibly discover. She's been my great inspiration for years and what I'd love most is to be as powerful, elegant and timeless as her.

The break that I've made between the last post and this one is probably the longest one recently, but I desperately needed it because the last month shattered me into tiniest pieces. On the 25th of September I lost my dad to coronavirus and I'm still learning to accept the fact that I'll never see him, talk to him or hug him again. His 56th birthday and my younger sister's 18th birthday have come in a month following his death, and the fact that he's gone has been so hard to swallow. My dad was a good and kind soul, he loved life and people, and I know that he'd love me to recover and get back to my normal life. This blog is something that makes me happy and that my dad has always supported me in, something he often helped me with and something he's always been proud of me for, among other things. And I'll never give up on myself, my life and everything I love - and I know that he's always there by my side.

In one of our conversations we had when this beautiful dress arrived, Audrey told me: "Seriously, there's no better woman to wear my dress." There are so many amazing women who wear her dresses, and I'll make sure to do her words justice and be one of those women - and there is no better dress for me to reclaim my life, happiness and freedom in, and to go back to feeling good again in.

In this dress I feel brave - brave to be who I am.
